As my headline suggests... i've misplaced by Visa... somewhere between Home Depot last night and this morning. I've already called Visa and they told me that they could put a "hold" on it.... this basically allows me to look for the card and not worry that someone is ringing through $$. However... if I don't find it... then i'll have to call back and get them to send me a new card.
Being pretty sure I'll never find the card, I asked for them just to mail me a new one. She told me it would be 5 to 10 days! I told her a story on how i went to Australia one time and found out that just 10 hours before I left that my card was flagged for "suspicious" use. I told them I was about to get on a plane to Australia and that I needed the card. My new card arrived in Australia before I did!
After my story the lady said, "oh, we can purolator it out and it'll be there tomorrow". I don't know why this wasn't offered as option #1... but it is the option that I said would suit me best. Living without my Visa for up to 2 weeks would not work in the least!
Moral of the story is... ask for the world -- all they can say is no.
