Shafted!
My most hated day at the Culinary. Salmon or Chicken Enchiladas. Ugg. The very thought of choosing between those two is enough to make me sick. I ended up with a plate of rice and some overcooked brocolli. Certainly nothing to write home about. Jacob left this morning... he got out of bed at 9:10. He flight left at 9:35. We arrived at the airport at 9:25. Only in Charlottetown can you arrive 10 minutes before departure and get on the flight. They certainly weren't happy to see him arrive this late and the joke he's been waiting to use, "Can you check my bags straight through to Vanuatu", was better left unsaid. I once missed an airplane... I was in Perth flying to Sydney. It was an early flight, something like 5am. I'd slept on the couch in this hostel with all intentions of getting up in the morning. Morning came when I heard other travellers milling around the lounge. I knew right away that I'd overslept as no backpacker is getting up at 5ish. Quantas just put me on the next flight... pretty sweet deal! Oh, if you've sent me an email today and you didn't receive a response, send it again as we had some problems with our mail server!

Valentine's Day of Course! Great chicken enchilada(sp?) Batman! Superb.
Harma drove today. An adventure in itself. Just kidding Hamra you did a splendiforous(sp?) job. I have never missed a plane, however, those of you who know me well, know that I never miss much!!! WhoooAh I'm normally painfully early for flights, the whole time in my head, dreaming up crazy what-if scenarios, that would never happen. Jacob is gone, left this morning at 9:15 for his flight at 9:30. He made it though. Turns out at the Charlottetown Airport, the will actually wander the halls, asking if you are going to Fiji. Lucky for Jacob. Good luck.

Jacob Made It!
Even though Jacob didn't wake up till 9:10 this morning he still made it! His plane, that was supposed to leave 20 minutes after he woke up waited for him! Well, I guess he's off to a good adventure! Dico is probably not doing much good today to Culinary's marketing campaign. Don't worry too much because it was absolutely excellent!! The chicken, rice, broccoli was sooo good and also pudding puffs as dessert made today's lunch the best they can ever do! Dico is probably a little upset that they charged him the regular price for just a bit of rice and broccoli. Eventhough, it's Valentine's day his smooth & friendly way of interacting with people, which he adapted over the years, didn't get him the discount a Dutch man is always looking for. Guess you've some practicing left to do Dico! Missing a plane. Yes, I've missed them too (not because I overslept, just because of missed connection). It's never fun because it makes trips even longer and more boring than they already are. Well since yesterday was a storm day I'm working twice as hard today so I better get back at it!

I loved it!
Salmon with a nice phyllo pastry and spinach, rice, broccoli.... yum yum yum. Those that complain should remember that meal cost us $4.12. Dico, aka picky eater did not like either of the entrees so he got a huge plate full of rice, broccoli, a piece of delicious cake and almost an entire loaf of bread for the same price. To think the boy was actually complaining they did not give him a discount on the food. tsk tsk. I am usually quite prepared for my flights. I do, however, remember one time when my name was called over the speakers because I simply did not do the proper calculations for the time change (I was taking about 3 connecting flights and travelling over 2 time zones). When they called my name, did I panic? No. I smiled and thought "aww, they're waiting for me, I feel special!" When you're in that situation, it's also extra nice because you get to load the plane when everyone else has put their awkward carry-on luggage away and they're all settled. All I have to do is slip into the seat and away we go! I've been tempted before to wait until they call my name on the next flight but I may be pressing my luck....
